FED Customers Limitations and Workarounds

If you attempt to look up a FED account in SmartSales by the name or Customer # the system will not find it. And indeed the account is not in the system. Per Henry Schein: "We are not allowed legally to provide full access to these accounts at the field level due to pricing requirements, etc."

Unfortunatly, because of this, quoting for a FED account will require extra steps. This is especially the case if you are Transferring the Order to a colleague.

To start a quote for a FED acount you have not quoted for in the past (in SmartSales), you must first Create a Private Customer.

When you Transfer the Order to a Colleague the Private Customer you assigned to the order will be striped (as private customers are not shared with colleagues). Address data will still show with the order but the order will not have a Customer assignment. The recipient of the Order Transfer will need to assign a Private Customer of their own creation.

The same is true if/when the order is sent back to you. You would need to re-assign the Private Customer you created to the order.

We realize this is not intuitative but it is not our preference or design and is due to the limitations put upon us for this class of customer. We are working on ways to streamline this process.
